| Shikibu Seijyu! Family: Antimafia Commission Rank: Detective Age: 23 Blood Type: B Height: 5'8" Birthday: September 21 Sign: Virgo
Seijyu's father was a petty loanshark, his mother a half-retired prostitute. (Hey, somebody had to make some money.) Nonetheless the two were incredibly happy and, indeed, in love. Seijyu grew up in a happy household with loving parents; his mother taught him to cook and his father taught him to appreciate fine art. They lived in a small apartment just outside of Monacello territory: but those were the old days, before the family changed. With the rise of the new don Monacello to power, the atmosphere of the streets changed. Seiju's father, involved in a minor territory dispute, was killed for his insolence. Seiju watched both his parents and his little brother die.
It is a story—the basic formula for a tragedy—to which Seijyu has grown accustomed in his years with the antimafia commission. His reasons for joining are no more vengeance than they are honorable: with his history, he could not have the Monacello family trust him enough to hire him, nor could he associate himself with the Vescovo's with any sort of cover. He does not yearn for justice as a vague, philosophical concept. It is merely neater than injustice.
In an odd twist of fate, he found himself assigned to work the same beat as Toudou Usaki. One could even say they, through the Antimafia Commission, had been designated partners. Seijyu's personality—he had learned to adapt to the seriousness around him through a charming smile and a soft-spoken tone, not to mention the occasional schoolboy giggle—was rather the antithesis of Toudou's tight-lipped, straight-laced style. Of course, he found Toudou charming right away, and set about on a personal mission to worm his way into Toudou's life, not to mention make him crack a scowl or a smile—anything to put some emotion on that blank face.
It didn't really work.
Stubborn, determined, and absolutely enjoying himself, Seijyu found that at least they worked well together, despite their behavioral clashes. Toudou was a cold-hearted killer. So was Seijyu. Together, they got more criminals off the street and shoved more bodies into the water than they might have on their own. One afternoon, Seijyu found himself injured enough to be taken back to Toudou's house.
He made dinner.
He moved in.
That was two full years ago. Toudou Usaki hasn't kicked him out yet, and they have continued to pursue the path they've chosen, fighting for themselves, together, but more importantly: for the Antimafia Commission. |
